4th of July Party ~ Challenge #10

OWH was again having a virtual card party over the 4th of July weekend ~ I would have liked to have been able to play as it was going on, but other commitments prevented it. So, no, that is not a typo in the title - I started with challenge #10 which was Sandy's . Since I was given these images, all I had to do was pick out some paper and ribbon. Having said that, it still took forever for them to come together. As when I scrapbook, I have to got thru everything to pick out what I wanna use. Since I'm not organized yet (I say yet, because one day it will happen, right???) it can take some time, but then I will also over think my choices. I didn't like any of the purple ribbon that I had (which wasn't much), but as I looked closer at the back ground paper it was really more blue, so the brown ribbon actually looked the best, so that one didn't get a sentiment.

I am going to my LLS on Friday to crop, so I am hoping to work on some of the other challenges ~ i have started pulling things together, so hopefully I will be organized and ready to work... LOL {{fingers crossed}}

VCMP #4

I stopped by Joann's on Friday... I haven't been in there in for-ev-er when I ran across this new item from TPC Studio... I LOVE IT. . .so I HAD to have it =)

So when the VCMP challenge #4 (on Operation Write Home's Facebook page)- sights and sounds of summer posted - I knew just what I was going to use. I started it during the two hours allotted, but had to leave to take care of some business, so I finally finished it. . .and here it is

OHW Spring Blog Hop

Spring is coming.... Spring is coming..... Spring is coming. . . Come on somebody tell me that spring is coming. Here in Michigan, it's sure not feeling like it. Just yesterday (Friday 3/4) we had an ice storm that caused something like 12 freeway/roads to be closed and it took me an hour and a half to get to work (should be a twenty minute ride). . .uuugggh . . .I can't drive 55 much less the 15 we were forced to do. So I am hoping that this hop can give me that warm fuzzy feeling of spring =) My card is made from Close to My Heart paper and stickease pack "Let's get together".

There is a ton of cool stuff going on at OWH. . .on the Main page check out the "Biker Video" as well as the newest fun thing - OWHtv! Yes, that's right... Sandy didn't have enough to do so she started a weekly OWHtv show. Also, the up coming deadlines are - for Easter cards is March 18 and Mother's Day is March 31... please get them to your shippers as early as possible especially if you have lots of multiples. The S&S Blog is the start of this hop but also Sunday = Sketch, so be looking tomorrow for the inspiration of the week. And then of course, you can get the latest and greatest news by following OWH on facebook.

Since I just move into an apartment I have been shopping the different thrift stores to see if I could find a nice small dining room table for a good price. I had been good about just looking at the furniture and leaving, but at one stop I decided to peruse the clothes racks, when all of a sudden I had an epiphany - I kept finding so many different patterns that I just loved but not only the pattern, but the color combinations as well. I thought why not do a color challenge for the hop. So, I took pics of a few of the materials I found. (the pics didn't do them justice, so I will list the colors)
the first one is yellow, brown, orange and maroon.
the second is cream, red, lime green and brown and the third one is khaki, light blue, black and white

The challenge is - pick out one of the color combos, make a card and post a link here, back to your creation for everyone to check out. I will number each entry as they come in for a chance to win the blog candy below. I will pick a winner on 3/19, so enter early and often. . .Good Luck and can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.

ok ok. . .I have rambled long enough. . .
Without further ado. . .go visit the multi-talented CJ at tea-n-stitches

Happy 21st Hero

OWH did a call out for a 21st birthday card for one of our contacts. Having just moved most of my supplies are still boxed and since this needed to be to Sandy quickly I went with a "sticker" card instead of stamps. . .so here was my card for Kristina.
I wrote to her that I too, was overseas for my 21st. Just 8 months in the Navy and I was four months into a two year tour in the Philippines.... it seems like just yesterday. . .

Blog Candy

When I was on the Hero Arts Flickr Group I ran across some blog candy that is available... Check out Nicki Hsu blog Craft~Coffee~Cat (love that name) for all the details. . .good luck and thanks for stopping by =)

Offset scallop challenge

So this card is for the Offset Scallop Gallop Challenge in the Moxie Fab World - there are a ton of entrants and there are some super cute ones (unfortunately I haven't made it thru all the competition yet...LOL) For my scallops I went outside the box and used my cuttlebug ribbon die to simulate scallops - hope thats what they were looking for. When the idea for the card came to me I didn't know that October was breast cancer awareness month, so that was a nice twist to this.

I created this card for my dear dear friend Kristy. For our 40th birthday, we and some other friends and family took a trip to Vegas and had just a great great time. Shortly after our return she found out she had breast cancer.... so we have been thru the chemo, radiation, the hair loss and now she has just gone thru her second reconstructive surgery. So this card is a welcome home from the hospital pick me up.
